Al Boraq carries the first two legs between Casa Voyageurs, Rabat Agdal and Tangier Ville; a conventional Al Atlas service continues east to Fez. That last journey takes much longer, so day five has only a short Fez walk after arrival. You spend one night each in Casablanca and Rabat, enough for one main sight in each. Two nights each in Tangier and Fez leave a full day for their old towns. Choose this route if you enjoy exploring different cities and do not mind changing hotels. If you prefer fewer moves, spend more nights in two cities and save the rest for another trip. Spring and autumn are comfortable for longer walks. In winter, keep an indoor visit in mind for rainy days.
Hassan II Mosque gives the arrival city a memorable first stop, with its minaret above the Atlantic. Non-worshippers visit on a guided tour, so match the Foundation’s visitor times to your flight rather than making it a fixed first-day promise.

Al Boraq’s short direct rides link the first three city stays without a long road day. You can give Rabat an afternoon and reach Tangier with time for an old-town walk; the slower conventional train to Fez changes the rhythm on day five.
Tangier’s Kasbah rises above the medina and the Strait. Its former palace holds a museum of Mediterranean cultures, while the lanes below lead towards Grand Socco. The height gives you an outlook over the city before the walk downhill.
Grand Socco links Tangier’s medina with its newer streets. Compare the shopfronts and public spaces around the square with the tighter old-town lanes, then continue towards the seafront if you want open views after the Kasbah.
Fez’s medina brings workshops, historic religious buildings and homes together in narrow streets. Enter through the blue-and-green Bab Boujloud gate, then take time to watch the craftspeople at work. These are working neighbourhoods, so ask before photographing people or entering a workshop.

Arrive, settle in and let the actual arrival time decide how much of Casablanca to see. If the Foundation offers a guided Hassan II Mosque visit after you reach the city, make that the main outing; non-worshippers cannot treat it as a casual drop-in. Otherwise choose a central architecture walk and an early meal rather than racing to the waterfront after dark. An evening arrival is enough for dinner and rest before the northbound train. Atlantic wind can make the waterfront brisk even when the sky is clear.

Take Al Boraq to Rabat Agdal and allow time to reach your hotel by tram or taxi. With one night, choose a focused circuit: the Hassan Tower and Mohammed V Mausoleum area, or the Oudayas’ lanes and river views. Leave space for lunch and a walk through the centre rather than adding several museums to a transfer day. The next morning’s train goes north to Tangier.

Bring a layer for a sea-facing terrace: coastal wind can feel cold even in sunshine.

Its archaeological and ethnographic collections give context to Tangier’s links across the Strait; check the museum’s current opening days before going. This downhill route keeps the steepest section early and leaves room to linger in the old town. Take the direct Tangier–Fez train if its departure fits your day; the conventional journey is around four and a half hours before the hotel transfer. Bring food and water if it overlaps lunch, then use your arrival time for a short first walk near Bab Boujloud. Fez’s medina has pedestrian lanes, so settle into the room before exploring farther. A taxi to a named gate may be more useful than a street address inside the medina. Have dinner nearby and save the longer craft walk and a museum for tomorrow, when you are not recovering from a train ride.

Begin near Bab Boujloud and visit the Al Batha Museum of Islamic Art for its palace garden, ceramics, textiles and manuscripts. The museum reopened in 2025; check its current opening days before making it the morning anchor. After lunch, follow the medina’s craft lanes at an unhurried pace, noticing how workshops and historic buildings share the streets. A local guide can explain the work without making every shop a compulsory stop; agree on the fee and end point first. Keep the afternoon flexible for a quieter courtyard or, if energy allows, the edge of Fès Jdid, the later walled quarter. This is the route’s one full day in Fez, so leave time to sit down as well as walk.

The route ends in Fez, so choose a flight or onward train from there when possible. A flight from Casablanca or Tangier adds another intercity journey that is outside this seven-day schedule. Allow time to reach the actual station or airport and to check out, particularly if your riad is inside the pedestrian medina. With a late departure, a nearby breakfast or one short walk is enough; an early connection is a reason to leave directly. Decide on that extra journey before buying a return flight, not on the last morning.

The first two legs follow ONCF’s high-speed corridor. The third changes to conventional rail, so compare the real service and arrival time before booking.

Al Boraq runs between Casa Voyageurs and Rabat Agdal. Check those names when booking: a hotel near Casa Port or Rabat Ville may need an extra taxi or tram journey to reach your train.
Rabat Tangier
Continue from Rabat Agdal to Tangier Ville on the same high-speed corridor. Keep the last hotel transfer in Tangier separate from the train duration, especially if the room is uphill in the Kasbah.
Tangier Fez
A direct Al Atlas train from Tangier Ville to Fez avoids a change with luggage. The ONCF route table shows this conventional link, but check the live service for your date; a faster connection may involve changing trains.
