Use Old Town for a first stay that mixes sand time with the museum, viewpoints and long restaurant evenings. Put the cultural visit in the morning and leave the beach for later that day, so that the centre contributes more to the holiday than a nightly dinner stop.
Choose the marina when a boat check-in is the fixed appointment and your accommodation is part of the holiday. An apartment with a pool gives you an easy local day between excursions; make Old Town a planned cultural and dinner outing rather than a repeated commute.

Faro Airport, the Caliços coach terminal and Albufeira/Ferreiras railway station are separate arrival points. Plan the final bus, walk or taxi to your actual district as part of the journey, particularly when arriving with luggage.
Faro Airport lists a Vamus Aerobus serving Albufeira, Portimão and Lagos. Compare its current departure with your landing and baggage collection time. Arrival in Albufeira still leaves the journey from the coach stop to the hotel, so include that leg in the plan.
The railway does not serve Faro Airport directly. Travel into Faro first, then take a CP regional train to Albufeira/Ferreiras. That station is inland, away from the beaches; finish by GIRO or taxi rather than planning a suitcase walk into the resort districts.
A late flight or several cases may make a door-to-door transfer useful. Give the driver the property entrance and flight number, and agree the nearest drop-off with an Old Town hotel in a pedestrian lane. Compare the whole party’s cost with the complete public-transport journey.
Praia dos Pescadores, Peneco and the lower Old Town fit into one walking day. Visit the museum at Praça da República above the beach, then work back through the lanes. Streets climb away from the sand, so the lower waterfront route is only part of the town’s terrain.
The municipal GIRO network links the resort areas with the marina, Ferreiras and outlying districts. Find both the outward and return stops in the operator’s route planner before setting out; the bus route can be less direct than the road distance suggests.

A prepaid journey costs €1.65 (≈ US$1.85), with a €3 (≈ US$3.35) card and a minimum load of five journeys. Buy and load it at the Albufeira bus-station sales point. A holiday spent mostly walking between Old Town and the beach may need only occasional singles.
The council describes stairs and a wooden ramp at Oura, and stairs plus a ramp at São Rafael. An accessible-beach designation concerns the complete facilities and bathing support, not simply the presence of a ramp. Choose the beach and assistance you need before choosing the hotel district.
The lower centre’s convenient beach access does not describe every Old Town hotel. Ask the property about the entrance, lift, steps and gradient from the nearest drop-off. Arrange an adapted airport vehicle directly when needed, and select accommodation with a workable route independent of a public beach lift.
Five nights span six calendar days and leave four full days between travel days. Use one for Old Town and a central beach, one for Oura, one for a western cove and one for a slower beach or hotel day. A boat outing is an optional addition to this plan.
These months suit a stay combining beach time with Old Town visits and coastal scenery. Put viewpoints and longer walks in the cooler part of the day, then use the serviced beaches or hotel pool. Sea conditions still determine whether a boat excursion operates.
July and August suit travellers who want Albufeira’s full resort atmosphere and regular sandy days. Oura and the central beaches are especially active, while western coves have less room to spread out. Choose the quieter room position when booking a hotel beside the evening scene.
May and October work well for historic streets, food and coastal views with swimming as an optional part of the day. From November to March, lead with the town and museum rather than a guaranteed beach routine. Rain, wind and seasonal beach services make flexibility more useful then.

Visit the Municipal Archaeology Museum in the former town hall at Praça da República. Its collections introduce prehistoric, Roman, Islamic and later local history, giving the old streets a longer story than the resort scene. Afterwards, follow the winding whitewashed lanes toward the sea and use a viewpoint above the central beaches for a sense of the town’s amphitheatre-like setting.
