Alona Beach
First visits and divers
Panglao’s restaurant and dive-shop strip.
Panglao is the smaller island linked by bridges to Bohol’s main island. Its south-coast beaches work as a base for most short visits; inland and east-coast stays make sense when you want more time in those places.
With two full days, you can take one countryside outing and one boat trip. A fourth night adds a day without a departure, useful for Alona or Dumaluan. Count full days after your arrival time: a late ferry and an early flight leave less sightseeing than the night total suggests.
The Philippine Tarsier Foundation’s ₱150 admission includes a guided forest walk. It opens 08:30–15:30 and recommends an afternoon visit, when the morning groups have passed through. Let the guide locate the animals, speak quietly and leave flash off. Corella is inland, so include it on the countryside drive.
The rounded Chocolate Hills spread across the interior, but the usual visitor stop is the complex at Carmen. The deck opens around 08:30–17:30; allow about ₱150 for an adult from outside Bohol. The viewpoint is a long inland drive from Panglao. A Carmen overnight brings you closer for opening time.
Bohol’s geology also includes caves, sinkholes and the Danajon double barrier reef off the north coast. UNESCO’s designation covers the whole island. That broader landscape is a reason to add inland nights if you enjoy river and forest outings more than another beach afternoon.
Along Alona, a grilled-fish or squid meal keeps lunch beside the shore. Kinilaw is fish dressed with vinegar and calamansi, served raw; choose a cooked dish if that is your preference. The beachfront and nearby lanes put several restaurants within a short walk, while a Dumaluan resort stay gives fewer independent places close by.
Loboc has riverside stays and lunchtime cruises; Abatan is a separate river to the west. A lodge on Loboc does not put you beside an Abatan departure. Name the river and pickup point when choosing a kayaking or evening firefly trip, so the room and outing fit the same part of Bohol.

Stay near Alona Beach on Panglao for a first visit with boat trips and restaurants within walking distance. Dumaluan and Bolod suit a stay centred on broad sand and a resort, with fewer places to eat outside it. Three nights give two full outing days; four add a day at the beach. Choose Loboc if river activities matter more than the coast. Anda is best added as a separate east-coast stay, not a day trip from Panglao.

Alona Beach
Choose Alona when you want to organise a short Bohol stay without a driver every evening. The shore has restaurants and dive shops, while nearby lanes hold more rooms away from the sand. You can use one hotel for Balicasag and the countryside, then spend the remaining day locally.
Use the area cards for the address decision. The table below is a quick transport comparison; the trip-type cards then show how to divide your nights.

Choose a night plan after the address: a short Panglao stay, an inland-and-coast split or a port night before sailing onward.
One Panglao hotel.
AlternativeUse the arrival afternoon for your local beach; the inland drive needs its own full day.
A Dumaluan resort.
AlternativeTake the Corella walk as one stop, then return for the beach instead of adding the entire Carmen loop.
Alona, beside the dive shops.
AlternativeA snorkelling-only boat suits non-divers joining the same Alona-based stay.
Two nights Loboc, two or more Anda.
AlternativeLoboc’s own evening boats start at the river resort; Abatan departures are farther west.
Last night in Tagbilaran.
AlternativeOceanJet departs from Tagbilaran, while Getafe serves Bohol’s north coast.
A Carmen overnight.
AlternativeA Loboc stay combines an inland start with more riverside lodging options.
Compare Alona's walkable rooms with Dumaluan's beach resorts, then choose the base that fits your boat and countryside days.
A flight lands on Panglao; a Cebu ferry lands across the bridges on Bohol’s main island. Add the hotel transfer to either comparison.
Fly into TAG, then use a booked Southwest car to Alona: about ₱600 for up to four people and 15–20 minutes. Its published rate includes driver and fuel. For the return to Manila, direct flights take roughly 1.5 hours, with one-way fares around ₱2,500–4,500 depending on date and ticket. Baggage follows the selected airline fare.
OceanJet takes about two hours from Cebu Pier 1. Tourist-class fares are approximately ₱960 per person, before terminal or luggage charges. Buy at oceanjet.net and arrive an hour before departure; check-in must be at least 30 minutes ahead. Southwest’s car onward to Alona is about ₱1,000 for up to four passengers, taking roughly 30–45 minutes.
OceanJet’s Tagbilaran–Siquijor tourist-class fare is around ₱960 per person before port and luggage extras. Buy through oceanjet.net. For an Anda stay, Island View’s posted car to Tagbilaran port is ₱3,500, taking a little over two hours; its Panglao airport transfer is ₱4,000. A Tagbilaran overnight avoids that long drive before an early ferry.
Use a tricycle for a local beach or restaurant ride instead of hiring a countryside car. For a short journey, allow roughly ₱100–200 per vehicle; ask for the destination price before leaving. For a Dumaluan stay, group your Alona errands and meal into one visit, since several separate rides quickly cost more than the fare suggests.
Ultra Mint’s eight-hour sedan or SUV costs about ₱3,000 for up to four people; its Innova is ₱3,700 and a van ₱4,000. Entries and lunch are extra. The standard departure is 09:00. Request an earlier pickup and specify the Philippine Tarsier Foundation in Corella for a hills-and-sanctuary day. Book through ultramintbohol.com.
French Touch Diving on Panglao lists scooter rental at ₱450 for 24 hours, including a helmet. Use it only if you already ride confidently and have the licence needed for the vehicle. The roughly two-hour road trip to Carmen is a different undertaking from a short Panglao beach ride; a shared countryside car is easier for a first visit.
French Touch Diving’s snorkelling outing is ₱2,000 per person, around 07:00–13:00, with equipment, transfers, snacks and supervision. Ask for the total including reef charges when reserving. For a private alternative, Ultra Mint charges about ₱3,700 for one to three people plus ₱500 per foreign visitor for environmental fees, island entry and mask hire. Lunch is extra on that private trip.
Kayakasia’s Abatan firefly kayaking costs ₱2,950 per adult or ₱2,500 for children aged 3–12. The roughly five-hour outing includes up to two hours of paddling, guide, equipment, community fees, dinner and transfers from Panglao or Tagbilaran. Pickup is around 16:15–16:30. From Panglao, allow roughly an hour on the road to the river station; Tagbilaran is about 15 minutes away.
Loboc River Resort offers a one-hour firefly boat outing at ₱590 per person, departing at 18:30 or 20:00. This is a Loboc River option for a lodge stay there; a room on Panglao involves a separate road transfer. The resort also lists an evening stand-up paddle outing at ₱850, so choose the boat if you prefer to sit.
The main Chocolate Hills deck requires stairs, and Corella’s forest walk has uneven ground. Balicasag outings involve transfers into small boats. With limited mobility, use a private car so the driver can adapt the inland stops, and speak directly with the boat operator about boarding assistance. A resort with a level route from room to shore matters more than a general Panglao address.
The transport and tour prices above are individual charges. Use the sums here to see what two people spend together.
March and April are usually the drier part of the year, though Bohol gets rain in every season. Storms can interrupt ferries and reef trips, so leave an onward overnight before a separately ticketed international flight.
For a holiday-week stay, book the Panglao room once your travel dates are fixed, then reserve the small-group outing you care most about. Alona has many independent rooms; Dumaluan’s beachfront choice is concentrated in fewer resorts. A family needing adjoining rooms has less flexibility than a couple choosing one room.
Grass covers the Chocolate Hills. As it dries the cones look brown; after rain they turn green. The name comes from that brown colour, while the rounded limestone formations remain the same.
Sharing the ₱3,000 car and paying roughly ₱150 each at the hills and Corella makes about ₱3,600 for two, or ₱1,800 each, before lunch. A Loboc buffet cruise adds around ₱1,200 per person. A land-based lunch keeps the day shorter and leaves more time for the sanctuary stop.
Two French Touch seats total ₱4,000 before any separately payable reef charges. Ultra Mint’s private boat plus the posted foreign-visitor fees totals about ₱4,700 for two adults, before meals. The private price also spreads across three passengers; compare the complete party cost and included gear, not only the starting boat fare.
For two people arriving from Cebu, the approximately ₱960 ferry seats and ₱1,000 Alona car total about ₱2,920 before port charges. Two arriving at TAG share the ₱600 car instead. A low-cost room farther from Alona can still be good value, but include the rides to meals and tour meeting points when comparing it.
Yes, but choose a countryside day. Two ferry crossings already use about four hours, before port check-in and road travel. Chocolate Hills and Corella suit that plan better than adding Balicasag. Stay overnight on Panglao for the early reef outing.
Yes. Use Loboc for the river and inland sights, then move to Panglao for the beach or Balicasag departure. Changing once is more practical than driving back and forth for several boat mornings.
Yes, Kayakasia lists a child rate for ages 3–12. The evening outing lasts roughly five hours including transfers and dinner, with up to two hours on the water. Choose the shorter Loboc boat if sitting through a one-hour river trip fits your family better.
Yes. Panglao is a smaller island linked to Bohol’s main island by bridges at Dauis and Tagbilaran. Alona, Dumaluan and the airport are on Panglao; Carmen, Corella, Loboc and Anda are on the main island.
Choose a town room for walking to Quinale Beach and local meals. A resort farther along the coast suits time at the property, but you will depend more on its restaurant and arranged rides. Give either choice at least two nights.
Yes. OceanJet sails from Tagbilaran to Siquijor. Buy through oceanjet.net, using Tagbilaran as the Bohol port and Siquijor as the arrival port.
