Flights, ferries and local journeys

Busuanga Airport uses the code USU. The airstrip, Coron town and offshore hotel islands each have a different arrival journey.

Arriving in Coron

Choose the correct airport route

Search flights to USU from Clark or Cebu. Philippine Airlines sells the Clark–Busuanga route; Cebu Pacific’s former NAIA turboprop services now use Clark. Cebgo also operates the El Nido connection. MNL and CRK are separate airports, so a ticket arriving at one does not put you at the other departure terminal.

A shared ride from USU

Allow about thirty to forty-five minutes from the airport to Coron town. Psalms Travel publishes airport–town seats from ₱300 per person in either direction, but its online options currently show unavailable. Arrange a seat with your hotel using the flight number and full address. For two guests, allow roughly ₱600 each way for shared seats.

The ferry from El Nido

Atienza lists a four-hour sailing from El Nido at 12:30pm, reaching Coron at 4:30pm. The fare is ₱2,600 per passenger, with port check-in two hours before departure. Reserve the dated sailing through Atienza’s website and use Coron port as the pickup point for your town hotel.

Town rides and hotel boats

Walk the centre or take a tricycle

For short town rides, allow around ₱15–20 per person in a shared tricycle on its fixed route, or roughly ₱60–150 per vehicle for a private ride. These are planning estimates, with the price depending on distance and load; agree the destination and fare before boarding.

An organised town afternoon

Psalms Travel’s ₱800-per-person joiner tour uses a van for Tapyas, Maquinit Hot Springs, Lualhati Park, the church and local shopping stops. Town hotel pickup is listed at 3:30–4pm, with return around 7pm. The roughly four-hour outing includes a guide, light snack and site admissions; dinner is separate. The island-resort transfer

Two Seasons’ Bulalacao arrival combines road and boat travel, taking about an hour and a half from USU. Its boats run from 6:15am to 4pm. Atienza’s 4:30pm town arrival falls after that last boat, so stay ashore before transferring to this resort. On departure, the resort advises leaving three hours before the flight; use its transfer arrangements for both legs.

El Nido Paradise’s Super Ultimate Tour costs ₱2,200 per person for the two lakes, Twin Lagoon, Skeleton Wreck and reef and beach stops. It includes site admissions, lunch, water, a guide and town hotel collection. Pickup is 7:30–8am, with the programme ending around 5pm, so reserve the whole day. Pass Island and Lusong

The same organiser’s ₱1,900-per-person Reefs and Wrecks Adventure visits Pass Island, Lusong Coral Garden and Lusong Gunboat. Its price covers admissions, lunch, water, a guide and town hotel pickup and return. Ask for the snorkel-gear and kayak total if you want either, since those items are not stated in the listed inclusions.

Coron’s environmental receipt

Both Paradise tours charge the Coron environmental fee separately: ₱200 per visitor, valid for ten days. Keep the receipt for the second outing within that period instead of paying it twice. The tour’s included lake and beach admissions are a different charge. El Nido’s environmental receipt belongs to another destination and does not cover Coron.

Steps, ladders and room access

Kayangan access is more than boat boarding

Reaching Kayangan Lake means climbing over the ridge and descending on the lake side. Other visits can involve boat ladders, shore landings and rocky ground. Describe the assistance you need to the operator and agree which stops are suitable. For a bayside room, also ask about stairs between reception, the bedroom and restaurant; reaching the property by car does not establish step-free room access.

Season, costs and diving decisions

Price a Coron stay by the outings you will actually take. A couple joining two shared tours has a different bill from a family hiring a resort boat or a guest taking a scuba course.

Coron’s local rainfall records put January to April in the drier part of the year. This is a useful window for a visit built around several boat outings. December is outside those four driest months, and May already has substantially more rain.
The wetter middle of the year

June to September receive much more rain, with July the wettest month in Coron’s long-term records. Rough seas can interrupt ferries and excursions. A trip with separate international tickets needs an onward plan that can absorb a cancelled sailing; use current transport notices when conditions deteriorate.
April’s daytime heat

April’s average daily maximum is about 34°C at the Coron station. Put the exposed Tapyas climb at the cooler end of the day, with drinking water for the staircase.

Two adults taking the Paradise lake and wreck outings pay ₱8,200 for four tour seats, plus ₱400 for their environmental receipts. Add ₱1,600 for the Psalms town afternoon and roughly ₱1,200 for shared airport seats in both directions. That is about ₱11,400 for the selected activities and transfers. Rooms, flights, other meals, optional equipment and local rides are outside this sum.
A private resort excursion for two

Two Seasons lists its private Ultimate tour at ₱4,400 per adult plus ₱14,000 for the boat, carrying up to fourteen passengers. Two adults therefore start at ₱22,800 for that excursion. The package lists picnic lunch, site admissions, drinks, a guide, snorkel sets, life jackets and towels. Establish the environmental-fee total with the resort when requesting this booking.
A beginner’s scuba session

Sangat’s Discover Scuba experience costs ₱5,500 per person and takes two to three hours, using shallow sites at three-to-eight-metre depths. It is offered from age twelve. A full Open Water course costs ₱31,000 and takes three to four days. The shorter session is a way to try scuba before committing several days to training.

For two people doing both, the combined balance is ₱7,000. Have that balance in pesos for collection. The environmental receipts sit outside those quoted tour totals.
Choosing a deep wreck for a first lesson

Coron’s wrecks sit at very different depths. Sangat lists Irako down around forty metres, while Lusong has a shallow stern and a deeper bow. A beginner session cannot substitute for the qualification and experience needed for a deep wreck. Give the dive shop your certification and recent diving history when it selects the site.
Leaving a dive too close to the flight

DAN recommends at least twelve hours before flying after one no-decompression dive, and at least eighteen hours after multiple dives in a day or consecutive diving days. Decompression dives need substantially longer. Count back from your actual flight when scheduling the final dive, and follow the dive centre’s advice for your programme.

Is the famous Kayangan photograph actually of the lake?

It usually shows the sea bay seen from the ridge above the landing. Kayangan Lake lies on the other side of that climb. The bay viewpoint and the lake are two different views during the same visit.

Can a non-swimmer come on the lake outing?

Discuss the itinerary with the organiser before paying. Some stops can be enjoyed from the boat, while swimming stops need appropriate assistance and equipment. Ask which stops allow you to remain aboard and whether a suitable life jacket is supplied.

How long does the Culion ferry take?

Montenegro’s fastcraft crossing between Coron and Culion takes about forty-five minutes. Confirm the dated sailing you need with the carrier.

Can I combine the lake tour with the afternoon town tour?

The selected lake outing ends around 5pm, while the organised town tour collects guests at 3:30–4pm. Those two bookings overlap. Give the town-and-hot-spring outing its own afternoon, such as the arrival day if your airport transfer reaches the hotel in time.

What scuba training does Sangat offer for twelve-to-fourteen-year-olds?

Sangat lists a Junior Open Water course for ages twelve to fourteen at ₱24,450, taking three to four days. It waives the Discover Scuba fee if a participant continues into its junior or standard Open Water course.

Can I book the town afternoon privately?

Psalms lists its private Coron Town Tour for two or three people at ₱1,900 per person. Two guests therefore pay ₱3,800. That is a per-person tour price, with a private van, guide and site fees; it is not the hire price for the whole vehicle.
