Where to stay in Boracay: compare beaches and hotel areas

Get to know Boracay before choosing a hotel

Boracay combines a beach holiday with plenty of places to eat and things to do. White Beach stretches along the west coast, with coconut palms, beachfront restaurants and paraw sailboats offshore. You can spend a day swimming and walking along the sand without booking an excursion.

Across the narrow centre of the island, Bulabog faces east and attracts kiteboarders and windsurfers. Staying beside a school makes sense if lessons are a major part of your trip. You can still walk across to White Beach for dinner and sunset.

Diniwid, just beyond northern White Beach, has a small cove and hillside accommodation linked to the shore by footpaths. It suits travellers who prefer a smaller beach and are comfortable with the walk from their room.

Yapak and Newcoast have larger resorts where pools, restaurants and hotel facilities can fill much of the day. The island is only about seven kilometres long, but staying away from the centre often means taking a shuttle or e-tricycle to White Beach and D’Mall.

Nights on the island Four nights, three full days

Four nights usually leave three full days between arrival and departure: enough for a boat trip, another beach and a day with no plans. With three nights, you have two full days. Keeping one hotel saves time otherwise spent checking out and moving luggage.

Station numbers Sections of one beach

Station 1 is the northern part of White Beach, Station 2 is the busy centre around D’Mall, and Station 3 extends south towards Angol. The numbers help you compare hotel locations. All three sections connect along the sand, so you can explore them without changing hotels.

Lunch on the east coast QTCHN at Aqua Boracay

QTCHN overlooks Bulabog Beach and serves a chori burger with a seasoned sausage-style patty. It is one option for lunch while watching the wind sports, even if you are not taking a lesson.

Public beach rules No smoking or drinking alcohol on the sand

Smoking and drinking alcohol are prohibited on Boracay’s public beaches. For a sunset drink, choose a bar or restaurant and stay within the venue. Arrange to meet friends there rather than taking bottles down to White Beach.

The northern shores Puka and Punta Bunga are separate

Puka Shell Beach is on the northern tip; Punta Bunga is a separate cove beside northern resorts. Both are in the wider Yapak area. Tell the driver which beach you want to visit, as the district name alone does not identify your destination.

Pool-access rooms and children Rooms with direct pool access need extra care

Some rooms open directly into a swimming pool. Henann Palm Beach designs these rooms for adults and requires a waiver when children stay in them. If you want a barrier between the bedroom and the water, choose a room without direct pool access.

StartBooker answer

Where should I stay on Boracay for a first beach holiday?

For a first visit, the southern end of Station 1 puts you beside White Beach and within walking distance of D’Mall’s restaurants. Station 2 suits evenings out, while Angol in Station 3 offers smaller beach hotels farther from the central shops. Choose Bulabog if you plan to take several kite lessons. Newcoast works for a resort holiday centred on pools and hotel facilities, with transport into town. Decide whether you want restaurants on your doorstep or more time within the resort before comparing rooms.

Where to stay for the holiday you want

A couple visiting the beach, a family using the pool and someone learning to kite need different things from a hotel. These six options pair a place to stay with an activity that suits it.

Couples planning a beach holiday

Choose Station 1 for a room beside White Beach, or Diniwid for a smaller cove and a hillside villa. A paraw sail adds an outing on a traditional outrigger sailboat to a holiday spent mostly by the sea.

AlternativeFor a private paraw sail, MyBoracayGuide lists about ₱4,000 for two: thirty minutes at sunset or an hour by day. Sunset slots are subject to availability.

Families who want pools and space

Savoy in Newcoast has family rooms and a children’s pool, making it an option for days spent mainly at the hotel. Choose White Beach instead if you prefer to walk out for meals.

AlternativeSavoy also has a halal-certified kitchen at Vienne, which may help families choosing accommodation around their dining needs.

Kiteboarders and first-time learners

Stay on Bulabog near the school you choose. Several lessons are easier to fit around rest and meals when you can walk back to your room instead of arranging a ride.

AlternativeGreenyard lists a ninety-minute introduction at about ₱6,000. Its nine-hour IKO Level 2 course costs about ₱36,000 and runs over three to four days.

Travellers keeping costs down

Start with Angol’s smaller hotels and guesthouses, then compare their prices with hotels in Station 2 for the same dates. Staying on White Beach lets you spend days on the sand without paying for an excursion.

AlternativeMyBoracayGuide’s two-hour sunset cruise costs about ₱850 per person, including snorkel gear. Food and drinks are not included. There is no hotel pickup; go to the meeting point.

Friends who want evenings out

Station 2 keeps friends close to D’Mall’s restaurants and beachfront bars. You can make separate plans during the day and meet for dinner without arranging transport for the whole group.

AlternativePlan a group boat outing after everyone has arrived. Four people sharing a private paraw pay about ₱4,700 in total, or ₱1,175 each, with MyBoracayGuide.

Snorkellers planning a boat day

A hotel in Stations 1–3 suits a stay with an organised snorkelling trip. MyBoracayGuide’s Standard island tour includes pickup from these stations, lunch, water and snorkel equipment.

AlternativeThe Standard tour leaves at 9am and lasts about five hours. Keep the rest of that day free for a meal and rest; optional island entries and the ride back to your hotel cost extra.

Getting to Boracay and moving around

Fly to Caticlan or Kalibo on Panay, travel to the port, cross to Boracay by boat and continue to your hotel by road. Caticlan is much closer to the port. A combined airport transfer arranges these stages in one booking.

From the airport to the island

Caticlan to your hotel: about an hour

Caticlan Airport (MPH) is five to ten minutes by road from the port. Allow about an hour for the full journey to a central Boracay hotel, including the crossing and island shuttle. Southwest’s premium shared arrival transfer is about ₱1,060 per foreign adult when terminal, environmental and convenience charges are included.

Kalibo adds a longer drive before the boat

Kalibo Airport (KLO) adds about one and a half to two hours on the road before the crossing. The full journey to a central hotel takes roughly two and a half to three hours. Southwest’s premium shared arrival transfer is about ₱1,235 per foreign adult with the same port-related charges included. Weigh that extra travel time against any saving on the flight.

When to leave your hotel for the airport

Southwest recommends hotel pickup about three hours before a Caticlan flight, or five to six hours before a Kalibo flight. For a 2pm departure, that means about 11am for Caticlan or 8–9am for Kalibo. These allowances cover the boat crossing, road journey and airport check-in; use the pickup time confirmed for your booking.

Moving around the island

Walking along White Beach

White Beach runs about four kilometres through all three stations. A walk between neighbouring restaurants is easy to fit into an evening; walking from Angol to the far northern end is a longer outing. For luggage, use the hotel’s road entrance rather than the soft sand. Near Station 2, lanes through D’Mall connect the beach with the main road.

Using Savoy’s shuttle from Newcoast

Savoy offers guests a complimentary scheduled shuttle to White Beach and D’Mall, about fifteen minutes away. Reserve seats through the concierge. Puka is a separate trip, about ten minutes from the hotel by road. Other resorts have their own transport arrangements, so Savoy’s service is only relevant if you stay there.

Buses and e-tricycles for longer trips

Book Southwest’s Boracay Hop-On Hop-Off one-day pass for about ₱335 per person if you want several trips beyond White Beach. Puka is served via a connecting route; ask the operator which service to use before boarding. Buses normally come every fifteen to thirty minutes. Board at marked stops along the main road. A private e-tricycle suits a hotel entrance that is away from a bus stop.

Fees and bookings to sort before you go

Have your accommodation confirmation ready

Book a Department of Tourism-accredited property and keep its confirmation with your stay dates. The island entry form asks where you are staying. If you choose a private rental, establish its registered name before paying so your booking and entry details agree.

Boracay iPass and port charges

Aklan’s Boracay iPass registers your party and issues a QR code for port payment and entry. You can arrange terminal and environmental charges, boat tickets and some land transport through it. The Southwest prices above already include the selected port charges. Check the transfer inclusions before buying a separate pass so you do not pay for the same charges twice.

Arriving in the Philippines from abroad

Complete the free registration at etravel.gov.ph within seventy-two hours before arriving in the Philippines, then save the QR code. This national arrival form is separate from Boracay iPass. For a journey via Manila, eTravel applies to your international landing there; iPass covers the later island entry.

Boracay with limited mobility

Check each stage of the journey for access

Ask the transfer provider about steps at both jetties, boat boarding, assistance and the vehicle used on the island. A step-free hotel cannot guarantee an accessible journey from the airport. At the hotel, ask for the route from the road to reception and your room. Diniwid’s hillside properties may have stairs, while beachfront approaches can involve soft sand.

Seasons, costs and common mistakes

Choose your travel month first. Compare the total cost of your stay, rather than just the nightly room rate. The budget example includes accommodation, airport transfers, a boat outing, meals and local spending for two adults over four nights.

When to go

Drier beach months and the longer kite season
  • February to April is a useful drier window for a beach holiday. Bulabog’s kite season runs roughly from November to April, with the strongest northeast wind usually from December to March. If one of you wants lessons and the other prefers White Beach, you can walk between the two shores through the island’s narrow centre and stay in the same hotel.

  • Rainier months can change the crossing

During the southwest monsoon, boats may use Tabon on Panay and Tambisaan on Boracay instead of Caticlan and Cagban. Rough seas can disrupt crossings, so follow your transfer provider’s port instructions. Before an important onward flight on a separate booking, consider spending the previous night on the mainland to reduce the risk of a missed connection.

  • New Year’s Eve room conditions

December was Boracay’s busiest month in 2025, with about 228,000 visitors. For a New Year stay, look beyond the headline room price: Henann Palm Beach includes a compulsory dinner for two on 31 December 2026, with a separate charge for extra guests. That meal is still charged if you arrive too late to attend, so a late flight can reduce the value of the package.

A four-night budget for two adults

A four-night room example for two
  • Henann Palm Beach in Station 2 quoted ₱34,238 for a Premier room for two adults, 16–20 November 2026, when checked on 10 October. The four-night, non-refundable price included tax and breakfast, with no service charge. Allow at least another ₱8,000 for the refundable deposit, based on ₱2,000 per room per night.

  • Airport transfers and one boat day

For two foreign adults, Southwest’s premium shared return transfers cost about ₱3,740 via Caticlan or ₱4,340 via Kalibo, including the selected port charges. Two places on MyBoracayGuide’s Standard island tour add ₱3,400. Lunch and snorkel gear are included; optional island admissions and the journey back to your hotel are not.

  • Meals beside the beach or at a resort

Allow ₱12,000 for the couple’s meals and soft drinks over five calendar days; this is a spending allowance, not an island average. For context, QTCHN lists a ₱600 club sandwich, ₱750 chori burger and ₱800 pad Thai, with noodle portions for two to three. VAT is included; 2.2% local tax and 5% service are added. Breakfast and one tour lunch are already covered above.

  • About ₱55,000–57,000, excluding flights

Adding ₱1,000 for local rides and ₱800 for optional island entries brings this example to ₱55,178 via Caticlan. The total covers two foreign adults over four nights and five calendar days. Flights, insurance, alcohol, kite lessons and the refundable deposit are extra. Your hotel rate may change the total substantially; this is a dated planning example, not a package offer.

Can young children share a room without paying?

It depends on the hotel and the child’s age. At Henann Palm Beach, one child aged zero to four per room can stay free when sharing an existing bed. For meals, the child must share an adult’s portion to eat free. Children aged five to nine cost about ₱840 per night without an extra bed; those aged ten and over pay the extra-person rate. These are Henann’s terms, not a rule for all Boracay hotels.

Can we stay on Crystal Cove, and what do children pay?

Crystal Cove does not offer overnight accommodation. It is a day-trip island reached by boat, open from around 8am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. Children under three feet tall enter free; those from three to under four feet pay half-price, and children four feet or taller pay the regular fee. Admission is separate from your boat-tour seat.

Is a paraw sail like sitting inside a boat cabin?

No. You sit on netting between the hull and outriggers, close to the water, and can get splashed. MyBoracayGuide provides life jackets, and children need an accompanying adult. Choose the shared motorboat cruise if that seating position would be uncomfortable.

Do children need a Boracay terminal pass?

Children aged five and under are exempt if proof of age is uploaded to Boracay iPass. That exemption applies to the terminal pass; use the child category when purchasing boat or airport transport, which has its own passenger charges.

Can I book a hotel for just one night?

Some properties or room categories require a minimum stay. Henann Palm Beach advises searching for more than one night when a room type has this restriction. If you need only one night and no rooms appear, contact the hotel to check whether a minimum-stay restriction applies. The requirement depends on the room and dates.
