Long Beach works well when you want beach days and meals outside the hotel without moving between resorts. Accommodation ranges from beachfront properties to rooms along the Phra Ae road and side lanes. Choose the beachfront side if direct access to the sand matters most.
The main accommodation beaches run down Lanta Yai’s west coast. Saladan and Klong Dao are in the north; the southern bays have fewer neighbouring businesses. Old Town is on the east coast.

Combine beach time with the island’s eastern waterways, village culture and Thai cooking. Choose a few outings that interest you; a day on the beach needs no additional programme.
Walk Old Town’s wooden shopfronts and waterfront streets, then stay for a seafood meal. Farther south, Baan Hua Laem and Baan Sangka U preserve Loy Ruea traditions: small wooden boats honour ancestors and carry away misfortune, accompanied by music and dancing. Ceremonies take place on particular occasions; an ordinary village visit focuses on the waterfront and daily life.
The eastern shore and Lanta Noi have wooded tidal waterways that contrast with the western beaches. Around Talabeng’s limestone scenery, some kayak outings include Tham Thua Khiao, a small cave exposed at low tide. Choose that route for the rock formations and cave; choose a mangrove route for the sheltered forest channels.
Ko Rok’s coral and anemone habitats include clownfish, making the underwater scenery the reason for the trip. Koh Haa offers a different experience, with underwater caves for divers. Choose a snorkelling or diving departure to match your experience; the official seasonal closures are explained below.
Learn dishes from a rotating menu, which can include Pad Thai, Massaman curry or papaya salad, rather than only ordering them at dinner. The day class includes a Lanta Animal Welfare tour; the evening session includes cocktails. Selected return pickups exclude Old Town. The cooking school supports the welfare centre.
A standalone tour takes about an hour and must be booked in advance. Staff introduce the rescue centre and manage contact with the animals. The adult fee checked on 27 October 2026 is THB 300 (about US$9). If you book Time for Lime’s day class, its included tour avoids paying for a second visit.
Follow the western coast south through Kantiang toward Klong Jark and Bamboo Bay for sandy coves and forested headlands. A driver can make this a beach outing from a northern base without changing hotels. Pick one or two stops where you want to spend time, rather than treating every bay as a required stop.
Krabi Airport is a useful arrival point for a road transfer to Lanta Yai. The route includes a vehicle ferry, then a bridge; seasonal passenger boats use a different arrival pier.
A through-transfer travels from Krabi Airport to the mainland vehicle ferry, crosses to Lanta Noi, then continues over the bridge to Lanta Yai and your hotel. Baan Thai Lanta describes about two hours to Klong Khong; ferry queues and a farther-south destination can add time.
Seasonal passenger-boat arrivals use Saladan in the north. Taxis continue to the western beaches from the pier, so a passenger ticket and a hotel transfer are different services. For a late flight, choose a transfer whose operator accepts that arrival time; the vehicle-ferry crossing is not an overnight service.
You can walk to nearby meals from developed parts of Long Beach, Klong Dao and Klong Nin. Old Town is on the eastern road, while the main resort beaches run down the west. For an island outing, agree on the stops, waiting time and return with a driver; the whole island is not walkable.
Private transfers, taxis and hired drivers let you visit without renting a scooter. If you do ride, the vehicle must be covered by your licence and insurance, and the southern routes require confidence on bends and slopes. A driver is a useful alternative for a single southern beach outing.
Baan Thai Lanta lists THB 2,700 (about US$80) one way from Krabi Airport to its Klong Khong property, paid in cash to the driver on arrival; checked 27 October 2026. This is an example for that hotel, not a flat island fare. Other beaches and the return journey need their own quote.
A private road transfer avoids a separate passenger-boat boarding, but the path inside the hotel still matters. Request photographs of the drop-off, room entrance and routes to meals and the pool. Sand, wooden stairs and southern slopes can limit access even when the property is described as beachfront.
Plan a beach stay for the season you will actually travel. The budget below covers a complete land-based visit for two adults; cooking, diving and offshore excursions can be added separately.
November to April is the main Andaman beach season, with April usually hotter. May to October brings greener scenery but rougher west-coast water, reduced boat services and some business closures. A low-season stay works better for quiet hotel days and road outings than a holiday built around daily sea excursions.

For a stay within those dates, ask which unit is offered; the notice does not establish that work has finished early.
