This route combines four coastal stops over ten days. Phuket supplies an easy airport entry and a choice between a west-coast beach and Old Town; Phi-Phi brings sheer limestone and an island evening after the excursion boats leave. Koh Lanta then changes the pace: its three nights make room for a long beach day and a separate look at the eastern waterfront. Krabi finishes the journey with Railay scenery and a road connection to the airport.
The two, two, three and two-night split leaves five complete sightseeing days. The other days belong to arrivals and travel, with time to eat and settle in. Choose this route when variety matters more than staying put: four check-ins are worthwhile for those contrasting places, but a two-base beach holiday will be easier with young children or limited mobility. Arrange flights into Phuket and out of Krabi; returning to Phuket adds a substantial journey that this calendar does not include.
The opening Phuket nights separate the flight from the first ferry. That lets a late arrival remain a normal hotel evening and gives the group a full local day before the bags move again. Book the first room for the part of Phuket you actually want to explore.
Phuket Old Town adds shophouses, small shops and a food-focused walk to a mainly coastal holiday. It is a useful opening for travellers who would rather spend their first full day on land. Choosing town means giving up a beach outside the hotel door.
Sleeping on Phi-Phi Don allows an early Phi-Phi Leh trip without crossing from Phuket that morning. A half-day excursion leaves time for lunch and an unhurried afternoon back on the inhabited island; you do not need to buy another Phi-Phi day tour in Krabi.
The west coast is where Lanta’s swimming beaches and most holiday accommodation sit. Long Beach suits a stay with several eating options nearby; Klong Nin moves the base farther down the island. Both reward a beach day that does not turn into a driving circuit.
The eastern waterfront offers a change from west-coast sand, with wooden buildings and a trading-village setting. Make it a daytime visit rather than an extra hotel move. Travellers staying there instead should expect road journeys to the swimming beaches.
Ao Nang gives access to Railay boats while keeping the last hotel connected to the airport by road. Railay itself is a boat-only peninsula: visiting for a day preserves the scenery without adding a final luggage crossing before the flight.

Stay within walking reach of Tonsai for the simplest two-night ferry stop. Quieter bays offer seclusion but often need a final longtail. Keep the hotel on Phi-Phi Don; Phi-Phi Leh is the excursion island, not the overnight base.
Watch out: A secluded resort adds boat dependence after the scheduled ferry, and park access never guarantees a specific bay or landing.

Long Beach is a practical three-night base with west-coast sand and restaurants nearby. Klong Nin is a quieter alternative farther south. Keep Old Town as a separate east-coast outing unless village life matters more than swimming.
Watch out: The island is long, and public transport is limited; night driving or an unplanned scooter is a poor answer to a remote room.

Ao Nang restaurants and boats, Railay limestone and the Krabi Airport road
Ao Nang is the easiest final base for this plan’s Railay day and airport road. Krabi Town suits food and local evenings but adds a coastal transfer. Keep these two nights on the mainland rather than sleeping across the water at Railay.

Transfer directly to the district selected for the first two nights. Store bags, inspect the local shore or walk nearby Old Town blocks and keep the evening within that area. Kata is the beach-first choice for this short opening; Phuket Town makes sense if tomorrow is about architecture and food. Patong has more nightlife, so a room near the busy entertainment streets is a different kind of first night. After a long flight, a local meal is enough. The airport’s west-coast Smart Bus serves Patong, Karon and Kata, although a car is easier with several bags or a late arrival. A town hotel needs the town-bound service or a taxi instead. Do not book a beach shuttle simply because its ticket says Phuket. Sleep in the same hotel again tomorrow; there is no need for an airport-area staging night inside this two-night opening.
Base: Phuket
Use your full day for the reason you chose the district. From Kata, keep the morning by the beach and take a shaded lunch break. Town-based travellers can follow the Old Town’s restored shophouses: narrow storefronts, covered walkways and decorative windows tell a different story from Phuket’s resort strip. A slow walk with stops for a drink and local food leaves time to notice those details. If you want a west-coast beach from town, make that the main afternoon outing and arrange the return. Phang Nga is an alternative full-day excursion, not an addition to this plan. The later islands already provide plenty of boat time. Finish with dinner in your own area, leaving tomorrow’s hotel change as the only fixed commitment.
Base: Phuket
After the crossing, a village room keeps the arrival straightforward. A remote resort may send another boat, and some shores have a wet landing rather than a pier. Ask about that access if anyone cannot climb between vessels or step onto sand with bags. Once settled, enjoy the inhabited island. The narrow middle of Phi-Phi Don separates Tonsai Bay from Loh Dalum, with village lanes between them. Find a place for lunch, wander at your own pace and leave the hotter uphill walk for another cooler spell. This is the evening an overnight stay buys: you can eat on the island after many mainland visitors have gone, without racing a return ferry.
Base: Phi-Phi Islands
Under current park access and suitable water, leave early with a licensed operator for Phi-Phi Leh. A four-hour private longtail trip from Tonsai is one workable example: the published winter morning option starts at 6:15, while its late-morning option is limited to May–October. Choose it only if that early start suits the group. The route combines Maya Bay’s beach visit, Pileh’s enclosed limestone water and a separate snorkel stop; Maya Bay itself is not a swimming beach. Return for lunch and an easy afternoon rather than adding a second tour. If you skip the boat, spend the day on Phi-Phi Don, with the viewpoint as an optional cooler-hour climb from the village. Remote-bay stays can make a resort day the better choice. There is only one full island day here, so choose the experience you most want rather than treating the bay tour and a long island walk as compulsory.
Base: Phi-Phi Islands
Reach the confirmed Phi-Phi meeting point and sail to Saladan. Once ashore, the character of the holiday changes: Lanta is a road-based island with long stretches of west-coast beach. Take the arranged car to your hotel and let check-in, lunch and the nearest shore fill the afternoon. Saladan has places to eat near the island’s main ferry and diving piers, so a lunch there is an option before the drive if your hotel is farther down the coast. At the hotel, look at the lane between your room, beach and dinner options before relying on walking; a short map distance can include the main road. You have three nights here and two full days ahead, with no checkout or pier transfer tomorrow.
Base: Koh Lanta
Choose one section of the western shore instead of trying to visit every beach. Stay around Long Beach if you want sand time interrupted only by lunch and shade. Klong Nin makes an easy change of scene for travellers already based in the middle of the island; reaching it from the north is a road outing, so agree the ride home as well as the drop-off. The southern coves are an alternative, not a checklist to complete before dinner. Break for shade and follow the beach flags: a calm-looking photograph says nothing about today’s currents. A sunset close to your room is a relaxed finish, while a distant sunset followed by an unfamiliar scooter ride is a different proposition. This itinerary does not require hiring a scooter. Use a driver when needed; riding without the appropriate licence and insurance is not a sensible way to make a remote hotel affordable.
Base: Koh Lanta
Use the second Lanta day for a contrasting landscape. Old Town brings wooden waterfront buildings and the east coast; the southern route offers forest and quieter coves when park access and transport are suitable. Old Town is the simpler main choice for a break from beach days. Allow time to walk the waterfront, look into small shops and sit down for lunch instead of making it a photograph stop on an island-wide circuit. The village is a place where people live and work, so dress for streets rather than sunbathing. West-coast swimming belongs to yesterday’s plan: Old Town’s appeal is its waterfront settlement, not a substitute bathing beach. If you prefer the southern park road, spend the day in that direction and accept the longer journey back. Keep both options separate; choosing one still leaves enough afternoon for rest before the mainland move.
Base: Koh Lanta
Leave Koh Lanta in the morning for the mainland crossing and road to your Krabi hotel. A shared van may add other pickups; the private-car example in the budget buys a simpler hotel-to-hotel move. Treat arrival as a chance to settle into the last base, with lunch or a rest before going out. Check into Ao Nang or Krabi Town, then walk the nearby shore or market and have a local meal. An Ao Nang stay makes this a coastal evening, while a town stay puts the emphasis on food and everyday streets. Leave Railay for the clear day tomorrow: that outing is more enjoyable when you can linger between the beaches instead of adding another boat after a luggage move.

Take the local boat to Railay when service and sea state support a comfortable return. Give the peninsula itself the day: West Railay has the beach setting, while the paths toward East Railay and Phra Nang reveal how the cliffs divide this small place. East Railay’s mangrove shore is not the swimming beach. Find lunch and shade between the walks; a beach visit need not include a climbing lesson or a difficult viewpoint scramble. Return to the mainland in the afternoon. If you prefer an introductory climbing session, make that the main booked activity and reduce the rest of the walk. When boats are unsuitable, spend a land-based day in Krabi Town or around Ao Nang rather than seeking another exposed island tour. Do not add a second Phi-Phi trip from Krabi: you have already stayed there, and a long repeat excursion would take away this different limestone landscape.
Base: Krabi
Keep the final hours close to the hotel and work backward from flight check-in. Include the entire Ao Nang or town road, collect bags once and use the arranged vehicle. The four-stop island chain has already delivered its variety; another boat or remote viewpoint would add a new transfer to the flight morning. Breakfast and a short nearby walk are enough if the flight leaves later. This plan ends at Krabi Airport, not back in Phuket. Check the whole return journey when comparing air tickets: a cheaper Phuket departure may lose its saving once you add the road transfer and an extra night. If you connect to an international flight in Bangkok on a separate ticket, allow for the domestic arrival, baggage collection and any change of airport; that onward connection is outside the ten-day island schedule. Leave your final Krabi night in place rather than trying to reach the airport directly from Lanta.

For 5 December 2026, Satun Pakbara shows Tonsai–Saladan at THB700 (≈ US$21) per adult. Andaman Wave Master lists a THB450 (≈ US$13) December–March ferry from Laem Tong instead; these are different piers.

From Lanta Yai, cross the bridge to Lanta Noi, then the vehicle ferry to the mainland. Koh Lanta Private Taxi lists north Lanta–Ao Nang at THB2,600 (≈ US$80) per SUV for up to three people, ferry included.

With younger children, substantial mobility needs or a preference for uninterrupted resort time, choose fewer bases; squeezing the same four stops into a week removes the Lanta beach-and-village contrast that makes this route worthwhile.

Early December and March can offer alternatives to festive peak rates, although no month guarantees calm seas. May–October can bring cheaper rooms but is a different transport proposition; do not assume an island-to-island link exists because Phuket–Phi-Phi still runs. Lanta needs the most advance thought: stay near restaurants and use a driver for Old Town instead of assuming a frequent bus. Step-free access is a separate question. Boat boarding, sand approaches and a remote resort’s wet landing can make this route unsuitable even when the road transfers are easy.
Distinguish an optional outing from an interbase move. A cancelled bay tour leaves a day to spend near the same hotel. A missing Phi-Phi–Lanta crossing affects where you can sleep: contact the carrier and properties, then rearrange the nights or remove an island. A mainland reroute can take most of a day and needs its own booking. Keep enough money and flexible room terms for that change rather than treating an unconfirmed boat as a guaranteed fallback.
